It is not necessary to remove every growing adenoid in children. Adenoid growths that do not cause serious problems are only followed. Adenoid growth, which may cause permanent problems in the future and requires intervention, can be grouped under three main headings.
If it is large enough to cause apnea (a few seconds of sleep interruption at night),
If it causes chronic ear inflammation, chronic sinusitis and frequently recurring upper respiratory tract infections,
Surgery is recommended if it causes chronic postnasal drip, which leads to recurrence of asthma attacks.
