What is tonsillotomy (tonsil reduction)?

Tonsillotomy, unlike tonsillectomy surgery, is the removal of a part of the tonsils, not all of them. It can be preferred in patients whose tonsils are large enough to close the respiratory tract but do not have frequent infections.

Ablation with coblator is the most preferred method for tonsil reduction.

It has advantages such as rapid recovery, less risk of bleeding, and preservation of part of the tonsillar tissue. However, it should be kept in mind that a small number of patients may encounter regrowth or frequent infection in the remaining tonsil tissue in the following years.
